The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Kwame Baffoe popularly known as Abronye D.C has settled medical bills of about 30 inmates at the Sunyani Central Prisons and also donated a laptop for proper records keeping.
The move forms part of the Father’s Day celebrations with the inmates at the Sunyani Central Prisons organised by Stunch Queens, a women’s wing in the governing New Patriotic Party.
The items donated by Stunch Queens includes assorted drinks, dining with the inmates, detergents among others.
Accompanied by the party’s Regional Secretary, Mr Kofi Ofosu Boateng and other party executives, Chairman Abronye said convicts were still an integral part of the society and therefore needed the love of all and sundry to reform and reintegrate them into public life after serving sentence in jail.
He said although convicts have lost their rights to personal freedom, they were still entitled to their rights to personal dignity and he is ready to assist them in that regard.
He explained that their temporary stay there was meant to reorient their psyche and to prepare them for better assignments after serving their jail terms.
He advised them to embrace the manpower and skills training provided by professionals of the Ghana Prisons Service.
He charged them to be of good behaviour while serving their jail term, in order to benefit from possible presidential pardon.
