Arrest, Investigate Major Boakye-Djan Over Warmongering Comments – Nana B Charges Ghana Police

The National Youth Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Henry Nana Boakye aka Nana B has charged the Ghana Police Service to, as a matter of urgency, arrest and investigate Major Boakye-Djan, a leading member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), over his call for civil war in Ghana.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Major Boakye-Djan, in an interview with Kwame Nkrumah Tikese on Okay Fm, is heard beating war drums over the decision of the EC to compile a new Voter’s register. According to him, there will be civil war in Ghana if the EC compiles a new register stating that “what they are doing now, they are walking us straight into civil war and if they want it, they will get it.”

Reacting to this unfortunate comment from Major Boakye-Djan on Okay Fm this morning, Nana B condemned “the warmonger” and charged the Ghana Police to apprehend him. According to Nana B, this is a very serious issue that cannot be glossed over by the state owing to the involvement of Major Boakye-Djan in past coup d’etat and the bravado and arrogance with which he made that remarks.

“Major Boakye-Djan, giving his past involvement in coup d’etat: giving his motive and choice of words against the EC’s legitimate exercises make it imperative that the Police arrest, question and caution him”.

Debunking the justification given by Major Boakye-Djan to his call for civil unrest, Nana B asserted that “the analogy given by Major Boakye-Djan that a communicator of the NPP had said the NPP will win the 2020 elections with 1.3 million votes margin is untenable and flawed because in 2016, Fmr. Prez. Mahama made similar projection to the effect that he will have a one touch victory but the outcome was catastrophic for him. So this is no proof of an intent by the NPP and EC to rig the election.”

He added that “the EC has not breached any law and at all time they have acted according to the dictates of the 1992 constitution and the act that established it. If anybody has any contrary view, the person must proceed to court. The NPP has had several disagreements with the EC but never threatened to visit mayhem or civil war on Ghanaians.”

It does appear that the NDC has a sinister motive for the upcoming elections. This is the second high profile person in the NDC to assert that Ghana shall witnessed civil unrest if the EC carries through, its intentions to compile a new Voter’s register. It would be recalled that the Flagbearer of the NDC, Mr. Mahama, in a couple of months ago, equally asserted that if the EC refuses to listen to his party and go ahead to compile a new register, there will be chaos and when that happens, the EC must assume responsibility of it.
