The President of the Association of Ghana Industries in Eastern, Volta and Oti regions, Dela Gadzanku and some of the corporate bodies including, B. Foster bakery, Ghana Oil Palm Development Company (GOPDC), Agya Appiah etc were at the Eastern region Coordinating Council to show their commitment in the fight against covid-19.
A total sum of GHC25,000.00 was donated together with detergents, towels, face masks, hand sanitizers, tissue paper, bottled water and loaves of bread to support the regional coordinating council, the Health directorate and the NCCE.
Speaking at the presentation, the Prez of Association of Ghana Industries in Eastern, Volta and Oti, Dela Gadzanku, said this covid-19 has adversely affected them since they are unable to import raw materials to manufacture in order to export or sell locally.
He said work at the hospitality sector is down and has affected vacancies with unemployment all over.
He said despite the fact that they are counting their losses in these challenging times, they have no excuse not to help or assist those in need and in this fight against the covid-19 pandemic.
Dela Gadzanku said GOPDC is contributing GHC20,000.00 cheque to the Eastern region coordinating council to assist in their effort to fight the pandemic.
He said all in all, GOPDC is committed to spend a total of GHC100,000.00 to supply Veronica buckets, hand sanitizers etc to communities in their fight against covid-19.
B. Foster bakery presented a cheque of GHC5,000.00 to support NCCE in fueling their vehicles as they go round educating people on the pandemic.
Backed by the Hon deputy Eastern regional minister, Hon Samuel Nuertey Ayertey, the Chief director, Rudolf Korzie Sambo, director of NCCE and Reps from the directorate of Health Services, the Eastern regional minister, Hon Eric Kwakye Darfour, expressed gratitude to AGI.
He talked about able leadership of the Prez with his able directors who are directing in the fight which has bedeviled the world.
He mentioned the setting up of National fund which is instituted by the Prez himself as a support base since the fight is everybody’s and requires all willing and able individuals and companies to contribute to it.
Hon Darfour said companies are responding to the call and it is his believe that many more companies would follow with their support
