Drobo Traditional Council Backs New Register Compilation

The Omanhene for Drobo Traditional Council Okokyiridom Sakyi Ako II, has wage into the discussions on the Electoral Commission’s decision to compile a new voter’s register for the 2020 general elections saying its time Ghanaians offer their full support to the Electoral Commission to get a credible voters register in order to ensure a free and fair elections.

Nana urged Ghanaians to take part in the new voters registration exercise ones they are eligible to register so we could start on a fresh page for our electoral system.

Okokyiridom Sakyi Ako II, noted this at his palace at Drobo in the Jaman South district, when the New Patriotic Party in the Bono Region paid him a courtesy visit as part of the Secretariat, 3 days sensitisation tour to the various traditional rulers over the new voters register.

Nana cited main illegalities such as multiple registration, registration of minors and non-citizens of Ghana and the names of dead people remaining on the register as the leading factors which has discredit the current voters register.

Nana has called on all stakeholders to agree and chart a constitutional line that can give us a national biometric voter ID that can also serve other purposes in our national quest for a credible comprehensive national data system, a key component to our push for development.
