Ejisu-MCE Declares Nose Masks Wearing Compulsory For Traders

The Ejisu Municipal in the Ashanti region has declared that the wearing of nose mask is an obligation at Ejisu Market to stem the spread of the Coronavirus disease.

According to Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Beatrice Serwaa Derkyi the assembly has taken it upon themselves to purchase over four thousand nose mask, tissues, Veronica basket and liquid soap to be distributed to the market women and taxi stations in the Municipality.

According to her, after the distribution they are going to enforce the wearing of the nose mask and all other protocols.

“Failure to wear a nose mask while in a public place is actually a criminal offence punishable by law, so my office cannot take responsibility to defend any recalcitrant person caught by the law”, she said.

Hon. Serwaa Derkyi added that she will not hesitate to close down the market if the market women fail to observe the social distance and other safety protocols.

Hon Beatrice Serwaa Derkyi further added that, the assembly will also provide mechanized bore holes to some selected markets and taxi stations which form part of government measures in the fight against Covid 19.

Hon Beatrice Serwaa Derkyi made this disclosure after the distribution of pieces of nose mask to Ejisu market.

Over thousand nose mask was distributed to Ejisu Market and Bankro Township as first phase of the distribution exercise by the assembly.

Some of the market women who received the nose mask expressed their gratitude to the government and the MCE.

The women also promised to wear observe the safety protocol directive by the president.
