Govt Is Keen To Develop Cashew Sector – President Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assured the chiefs and people of Drobo and its environs that his govt takes the development of cashew as a key component of its agricultural policies especially in the area of tree crops and its potential for Ghana.

He gave the assurance, when the Omanhene and chiefs of the Drobo Traditional Council paid a courtesy call on the president at the Jubilee House on Thursday.

Led by Okokyeredom Sakyi Ako II Omanhene of Drobo Traditional Area, the chiefs appealed to the president to set up a commission to mediate a misunderstanding between Drobo and and its neighbour Japekrom.

The Omanhene also appealed for some logistics for the Drobo secondary school and also requested a vocational and technical institute in Drobo to develop skills for the youth.

He called for the construction of a cashew warehouse due to the high levels of the crop’s production in the area and congratulated the president for the roll-out of policies which has positively impacted on the people in the area.

The President for his part, thanked the paramountcy for their kind words for govts efforts to improve the conditions of the people. On the issue of education, the president agreed with the chief that skills development is the key to youth development.

President reiterated his government’s plans for Cashew development in the country.

The conflict between Drobo and Japekrom, according to president Akufo-Addo is not a healthy development and proposed the settlement of the conflict through dialogue.
