Member of Parliament for Bekwai Constituency and First Deputy Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament Right Honourable Joseph Osei-Owusu on Sunday July 7 2019 toured and inspected some infrastructural projects in the Bekwai Constituency.
Some of the projects visited were School projects (classrooms and sanitation facilities), Community Water projects, Health projects (Hospitals and CHPS Compounds), Security projects (Police Station) and Road projects.
SOME OF THE PROJECTS VISITED
At Denyaseman Catholic SHS he inspected a 12 seater bio-digester W/C with solar mechanized borehole (2 of same project at Wesley High School and Oppon Memorial SHS), a project funded by the Ministry of Special Development Initiatives.
A Police Station, community water and a Hospital projects were also inspected at Poano.
CHPS Compound and 3 unit classroom with ancillary facilities at Amoamo and Anwiam.
6 unit classroom with ancillary facilities at Ahwiaa.
Community water project at Ofoase Kokoben (same project are at Poano and Kensere Pampaso).
3 unit classroom with ancillary facilities at Huntado.
The Minister for Roads and Highways and himself cut sod for the construction of Kokoben/Senfi/Dominase/Adjamesu road which has not been constructed since 1953.
9.3 kilometers Asanso-Feyiase road that has never tasted bitumen is also under construction.
9.6 kilometers Bekwai township roads and additional 5 kilometers for Denyase road and Industrial center road.
He added that Kensere/Pampaso/Biribiwomanmu road and Poano/Ntinanko road have been approved by Cocoa Board and sod will be cut soon to commence the construction.
He explained that the Kokotro/Dotom road was abandoned because Cocoa Board had not paid the contractor his money but arrangement has been reached for payment to be made to him, so the contractor will come back to complete the road construction soon.
He stated that the CHIPS compounds at Amoamo has been completed and handed over to the Assembly while 3 others at Ntinanko, Bodoma and Asakyiri are yet to operational with equipments and money given to the Municipal Health Directorate.
Bekwai Hospital is progressing steadily with the Contractor given 18 months to complete and furnish it in 2020.
The MP stated that he recently cut sod for the construction of Abodom market (costs GH¢200,000.00) And Kwamang/ Abesewa Kente market(cost GH¢130,000.00) Both projects costing GH¢330,000.00. He has presented the cheques to the Assembly and construction has already began.
On Education, the MP said he has presented GH¢100,000 cheque to Kensere to construct a 6-unit classroom block. The money has finished but he will look for fund so the project will be completed as soon as possible.
He said KG blocks at Abodom and Kokofu have been completed. A six unit classroom block at Ahwaa and 3- unit classroom at Anwiam, 3-unit classroom with Library facility at Huntado and more others are at various stages of completion.
Yearly Bursary support to needy students. Ghc 50,000 as bursary support in 2018.
He advised political opponents that they have every right to criticize but they should be honest to tell the people the truth.
He called on the media to tell the public the good things they have seen for themselves, saying with all the good works that are going on in his Constituency, it will be very unfair to say that he has not done anything since he became MP.
