Stop Procurement Of Foreign Toilet Roll -Veep To State Institutions

The Vice President, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia has directed all state institutions with an effect from next year to stop purchasing foreign toilet rolls.

According to Dr Bawumia this announcement comes to strengthen the local manufacturing company in the country.

He said when the NPP took office in 2017 there was a total number of nine toilet roll manufacturing company in the country and the current government has added five new companies under the one district one factory within three years in office.

Moreover, over seven million dollars was spent on importation of toilet rolls by state institutions into the country last year which is not helping growing the local industries and the economy.

The Vice President made this assertion when he visited Brompton Company Limited a toilet roll manufacturing company at Nsawam Prison which was commissioned in May this year under the one district one factory policy.

Meanwhile, the Managing Director, Brompton Company Limited, James Yankah said the call by the President is in the right direction to helping grow the local industries.

Speaking to the media he said thirty of their total income is earmarked for the development of the Prisons.
