President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has cautioned foreign countries that perpetuate the illicit transfer of money and resources out of Africa and consequently, keeping the continent poor to put a stop to it.

The President also emphasized Ghana’s commitment to adopt and apply technology to set the country on the road to prosperity, especially in the area of education to lead the continent out of poverty.

The President made these statements when he delivered his address at the 74th General Meeting of the United Nations, currently ongoing in the USA. President Akufo-Addo wondered how fair and equitable, rich nations have been to the rest of the world, reiterating how African resources are enriching other countries at the continent’s peril, saying the flight of capital is perpetuating the status quo and called for its stoppage.

President Akufo-Addo reiterated his call to fight to eradicate poverty with quality education, disclosing to the assembly that Ghana is currently spending a third of its budget on educating its citizens.

President Akufo-Addo called on Africa to get to grips and master her own development with the adoption of the African Continental Free Trade Area, while restating its benefits for the continent.

He noted the need to raise the country’s infrastructure to a minimum level to have a realistic expectation of Ghana’s future. On thorny and trending issue of climate change, President Akufo-Addo called on the world to counter the impending danger and stop the unnecessary arguments.

He finally called on the world to inspire to be inclusive and hoped that collaborations among humanity would lead to a prosperous world.

This year all 193 Member States of the Organization are represented in the General Assembly contributing to the theme is “Galvanizing multilateral efforts for poverty eradication, quality education, climate action and inclusion”.
