The Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) has confirmed that this year’s GHALCA Top 4 tournament will no longer be staged in Kumasi, with the competition officially moved to the Accra Sports Stadium due to the unreadiness of the Baba Yara Stadium.
The annual pre-season competition brings together the top four teams from the previous Ghana Premier League campaign. This year’s participants are Bibiani GoldStars Ghana’s representative in the CAF Champions League, Asante Kotoko who will play in the CAF Confederation Cup, as well as Hearts of Lions and Accra Hearts of Oak.
Accra Hearts of Oak, renowned for having the largest supporter base in Ghana and among Ghanaian clubs worldwide, are expected to draw massive crowds to the capital venue, ensuring a vibrant atmosphere for the tournament.
Speaking on the change of venue, GHALCA Chairman Mr. John Ansah stated:
“We’re playing in Accra, and the date stands the same; we will be doing the needful where we have to launch the program, but as it stands, Accra Sports Stadium is where we’re playing.”
Despite the switch from Kumasi, excitement for the competition remains high, with fans anticipating thrilling contests as the country’s top sides gear up for their continental and domestic campaigns.
