President Akufo-Addo has appealed to Ghanaians to give him another term to complete his projects.
According to him, given the massive feat chalked in just three years in office, another term will witnessed unprecedented infrastructural developments in the country.
Addressing party supporters at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Delegates’ Conference, held at the Fantasy Dome at the Trade Fair Grounds at La, President Akufo-Addo said he needs “four more years to do more”.
The annual gathering of the NPP family brought the party to deliberate on party issues and take stock of the party’s programs over the year. Over 6,500 delegates assembled for this all important meeting. The conference was addressed by the national executive of the party who presented reports of their mandate to the partys delegates.
Addressing the conference, President Akufo-Addo noted that he is happy about the massive support he enjoys nationwide – a sign he believes is a good omen ahead of next year’s elections.
He noted that, the NPP already has the backing of the people ahead of election 2020 considering the warm reception he receives when he travels around the country.“What I have seen, which encourages me, is the strong support of the Ghanaian people for the work that we have done. All over the country, everywhere that I go, I am being met by large crowds of enthusiastic people. They are the one who began the cry: “four more for Nana.
President Akufo-Addo added that, the NPP is the best alternative for Ghana’s development and criticised the performance of the NDC flagbearer and former President John Mahama, saying the main opposition leader has no record to defend in the 2020 elections
“The question that the Ghanaian people are going to ask our opponents is that “what are they coming back to do? what’s the programme of the NDC under the leadership of John Mahama? what was the programme? what is the record they are coming to defend in 2020?.
“There is strong support from the Ghanaian people everywhere I go I see a large crowd and people of enthusiasm following me everywhere I go. They are the ones who started the slogan ‘four more for Nana’”.
The President also said Ghana cannot develop without the NPP.
On his part, Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia described as a recipe for disaster any attempt to vote for former President John Mahama in the 2020 elections.
He explained that, the former President was given the opportunity to build a structure but it collapsed and a new mason being the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by Akufo-Addo was contracted by Ghanaians through the ballot box to put up a robust structure.
The Vice President said John Mahama has no ‘plan’ and would only derail the progress chalked under the NPP.
“You have given a mason a house to build…he built it and it collapsed. You have brought a new mason who has built it to the roofing level and the old mason comes to say you should give it to him to complete. Will you give it to him?” he quizzed.
Other speakers at the conference included the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, who said the party should embrace unity and work towards victory and cautioned party members of divisive tendencies.
