50 Nigerians apprehended over cyber crime and human trafficking.

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has apprehended approximately 50 Nigerian nationals during a targeted dawn operation at McCarthy Hills in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region. The operation was carried out based on intelligence reports related to suspected human trafficking and cybercrime.

In a statement released on Thursday, July 24, 2025, and signed by Assistant Commissioner of Immigration M. Amoako-Atta, Head of Public Affairs, the GIS confirmed the arrests and detailed the rationale behind the operation.

Among those taken into custody was the landlord of the apartment believed to have housed the alleged criminal operations. Authorities suspect the property was used as a hub for these activities.

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has assured the public that investigations are still underway to uncover the full extent of the operations and identify everyone connected to the suspected human trafficking and cybercrime network. The Service added that further updates will be shared as the investigation progresses.
