The Covid-19 Trust Fund, announced by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo continues to receive financial and logistical support from corporate Ghana, when on Monday, Goil Ghana LTD, and other local companies made donations into the fund.
Turkish owned power company, AKSA Energy also donated GHC2,500,000.00 to the fund, set up by government as part of efforts to assist the needy and vulnerable in society who are likely to be most affected by the corona-virus mitigation protocols of the State.
At a brief ceremony at the Jubilee House to present their contributions, the Turkish Ambassador to Ghana, Ozlem Gulun Ulueren, told the Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, Madam Akosua Frema Osei Opare, that they are deeply concerned about the worldwide spread of the novel Coronavirus.
Their contribution according to Ambassador Ulueren, is to shore up the decisive efforts of government in the fight against Covid-19.
K. Ofori Limited, a building material company represented by Dunkwa Jabpotin, the chief accountant of the company and Benjamin Adjei, the Operations Manager, also presented a cheque of one hundred thousand Ghana Cedis (100,000.00) to the Covid-19 National Trust Fund.
Kwame Osei Prempeh, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Goil Ghana, in the company of Alex Josiah Adzew, also presented their cheque of GHC200,000.00 to the Chief of Staff as their token to the Covid-19 fund.
The Bui Power Authority through its Chief Executive Officer, Fred Oware, also presented a Cheque of five hundred thousand Ghana Cedis (500,000.00) to the fund.
Fred Oware, in a brief remark assured the Chief of Staff that the Power Authority will continue to support Government’s efforts aside the contributions to the donation.
Silver Star Auto, led by Asad Kalmoni, presented a Peugeot Pick Up vehicle to the fund to aid the movement of the Ghana Covid-19 response teams.
Reroy Group Limited, an electrical cable and accessories company also made its contribution, with a cheque of one hundred thousand Ghana Cedis to fund.
Anthony Mensah, the company’s PRO indicated that the management of Reroy is optimistic that the country will win the struggle against the Covid-19 pandemic.
Chief of Staff Madam Akosua Frema Osei Opare, thanked all the donors on behalf of the President of the Republic Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
She assured them that the state will formally express its appreciation and acknowledge their efforts and that the funds will be put to proper and judicious use for the benefit of the needy and vulnerable in the country.
