The Minister for Roads and Highways Hon Kwasi Amoako-Attah has revealed that government will spend about GHC50 million to fix roads and bridges damaged as a result of the about 12hrs downpour in the Upper West Region.
According to the minister, about 8 roads were affected and engineers have outlined some road works which include side clearing, earthworks, concrete works, dredging and desilting, pavement works, etc.
Four contractors have been carefully selected to undertake these emergency road works which the Minister explained were selected due to proximity and that they have the capability and capacity to deliver.
The contractors are P&W Ganem Ltd, Mawums Ltd, Maripoma Ltd, and Ashcal Investment Ltd.
In his address during a meeting with the contractors at the ministry today, the minister urged the contractors to work together as a team and work with speed because it’s emergency work., he also urged them to possibly work day and night to complete the project on time.
He assured them that govt will make funds available at all costs with very qualified engineers who will give them the necessary support.
