Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for the Assin Central constituency in the Central Region, has presented 40 bags of Rice and 40 boxes of cooking oil to the Chief Imam, Shiekh Nuhu Sharabutu at the residence of Chief Iman at New Fadama in Accra on Friday.
The gesture which is part of the MP’s support to the Muslim community as they celebrate Eid ul Fitr is in fulfillment of his annual philanthropy to the Muslim faithful.
The presentation was done on behalf of the aspiring New Patriotic Party presidential aspirant, by his son, Mr Kenneth Takyi Agyapong at a brief ceremony.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Chief Imam, Alhaji Abdul Salam Abdul, who is a staffer at the Office of the Chief Imam, thanked the astute politician for his untiring devotion and commitment to the cause of the Muslim community in Ghana.
He also prayed for longevity and Allah’s blessings for Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, his household and his businesses.
Another staffer at the Office of the Chief Imam, Mallam Fareed, on behalf of all Muslims in Ghana, expressed their profound gratitude to the Assin Central MP for his kind gesture.
Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting, and is celebrated during the first three days of Shawwāl, the 10th month of the Islamic calendar.
Eid al-Fitr is a time of official receptions and private visits when friends greet one another, presents are given, new clothes are worn, and the graves of relatives are visited.
