While most of us expected Rihanna to announce (or perform) new songs at her Super Bowl Halftime Show, the singer surprised everyone by revealing something far more significant- her second pregnancy. Fans hurried to social media within the first few seconds, wondering if Rih-Rih was letting the Navy know she was pregnant by keeping the zipper below her baby belly.
Her pregnancy announcement was unexpected.
It turns out that Rihanna never planned to announce her pregnancy when discussing the events leading up to her memorable performance. The singer, who recently released her newest Fenty x Puma collaboration, recently spoke to Access Hollywood about a little wardrobe incident before going on stage.
“Here’s the deal. I did what I needed to do, didn’t I? “My jumper couldn’t zip up,” Rihanna said, meaning that her bump had expanded to the point that she couldn’t zip up her garment. Rih-Rih, being the professional that she is, opted to wear the outfit regardless of whether it meant people would know she was pregnant or not. The Bajan beauty confessed how discreet she was about her second pregnancy, recalling how she kept everyone on the program in the dark.
Rihanna claims she didn’t even notify her stylist, whom she merely asked to extend her clothing.
“No one knew I was expecting. “All I said to my stylist was, ‘Make sure it’s stretchy,'” she added. “So the undergarment was stretchy, and this was baggy, but the zip.” It just came to a halt! So it had to be what it was.”
The pregnant revelation was one of the highlights of Rihanna’s 13-minute performance, with many fans praising her for completing a fast-paced set while singing live.
Not to mention the choreography, which had Rihanna performing a variety of motions across the stage.
Fans didn’t know how far along she was at the time of her performance; however, her substantial bulge indicated she was far into her pregnancy. Rihanna finally received her bundle of joy, a newborn boy called Riot, whom she also shares with her lover, A$ap Rocky, on August 1.
The couple brought their first child, RZA, into the world in May 2022.
When asked about her favorite album of the year, the singer said, “Am I an album type of girl or a streaming single kind of girl?” She further proclaimed that her favorite songs at the moment are Davido’s “Unavailable,” featuring Musa Keys and “MNIKE” by Tyla ICU, featuring DJ Maphorisa.
