Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has praised Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, acknowledging his positive transformation in the police service.
The Asantehene commended the IGP for measures that have significantly improved the public perception of the police force since he assumed office.
Otumfuo gave these commendations when he hosted members of the police management board at the Manhyia Palace.
Otumfuo acknowledged that the measures implemented by the IGP since assuming office have significantly strengthened the bond between the police and the public, surpassing previous levels of trust and confidence.

Regarding security during the Christmas festivities in the Ashanti region, the Asantehene expressed his astonishment at the abundance of motorbikes deployed to patrol the area, with a particular focus on Kumasi, to safeguard the residents.
The Asantehene further emphasized that these safety measures had effectively curbed incidents of robberies and accidents within Greater Kumasi City.

Expressing concern about the upcoming elections’ intensity, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II further implored the Ghana Police Service to ensure a peaceful 2024 general election and specifically charged the IGP to take proactive measures for an incident-free poll.
Otumfuo offered his support for the IGP and encouraged him not to let the demands and difficulties of his position alter his character and his commitment to the objectives and development of the police service.

Dr. Akuffo Dampare, who is currently on a working tour of the Ashanti region, expressed his gratitude to Otumfuo and assured him that the police will continue to work to ensure the safety of the public.
