A social commentator and member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yaw Debrah, popularly called Zito, has cautioned the hierarchy and all executives of the party to be wary of their actions and pronouncements, which may harm the unity and cohesion of the elephant family as the party works to retain power in December.
Yaw Debrah, who expressed these sentiments on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, when he took his turn on NET2 TV’s ‘Dialogue’ show, recalled the political calamity that befell the CPP family during the early days of the fourth republic, a situation that led to a divided Nkrumahist front to date.
He noted that apathy and the need for some constitutional reforms within the party are issues that the party must prioritize urgently if it is to retain power in the December elections.
Yaw Debrah also fingered an electioneering scheme within the party, which manipulates the parliamentary and presidential primaries in favour of some aspirants within the NPP, and cautioned the hierarchy of the party to deal with the problem before it consumes the party.
