The people of Asempaneye, a community in the Akuapem North Municipality in the Eastern region, have become beneficiaries of a newly built JHS classroom block, a library and an administrative office, as well as teaching and learning materials for the Asempaneye Basic School.
The new JHS block with library facilities at the school is fully equipped with over 6,000 reading books, 5 laptops, tables and chairs.
The project was funded and facilitated by 20-year-old Barbara Anna Beck, a volunteer from Australia.
The commissioning of the new Junior High School Block in the Asempaneye community was a significant event that brought together various stakeholders, including, the Municipal Chief Executive, the Municipal Director of Education, Chiefs and leaders of the Asempaneye community.
Addressing the gathering, the Municipal Chief Executive for Akuapem North, Barimah Asiedu Larbi Sarpong, said that the development of the school is a significant milestone for the community, and marks a crucial step towards improving education in the area.
He emphasizes the importance of parental involvement and responsibility in supporting their children’s education and encourages parents to partner with the government and teachers to ensure the success of their children.
The Municipal Director of Education for Akuapem North Municipal Assembly, Lawrence Dzah, expressed gratitude to Barbara Anna Beck’s kindness and generosity in building a new Junior High School Block Asempaneye community, adding that Barbara Anna Beck’s benevolence gesture will go a long way toward having a positive impact on the children’s education.
As part of the commissioning, the Chief of Asempaneye and his elders, bestowed on Barbara Anna Beck the status of the development queen (Nkosuohemaa), for her contributions to thBeck,mmunity.
Barbara Anna Beck in her remarks, highlighted that education is the key to unlocking potential and driving positive change and expressed gratitude to the chiefs, community members, her family, and friends in supporting her, to complete the project.
Speaking to NET2 TV NEWS, Ruby Esinam Glover, the headmistress of Asempaneye M/A Primary School, shared her the journey of this philanthropy.
She called on stakeholders, including NGOs, philanthropists and traditional leaders, to come to their aid to have a complete school that will showcase the power of collaboration.
