JAMESTOWN FISHING HARBOUR – 99% COMPLETE: EMPLOY GA YOUTH & CONSIDER INPUTS OF FISHERFOLK – GA MANTSE URGES AUTHORITIES

The Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II has urged the appointing authorities of the yet-to-be-commissioned Jamestown Fishing Harbour to offer job opportunities to the teeming Ga youth, especially those from the adjoining communities, to make the project beneficial to the communities, in the catchment area.
The Ga Mantse made this appeal when he paid a working visit to the Jamestown Fishing Harbour project site at Jamestown in Accra.
Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II was accompanied by the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly Chief Executive, Elizabeth Sackey, the Sempe Mantse, Nii Adote Otintor, Gbese Mantse, Nii Ayi Bonte II and officials of the Regional Coordinating Council, AMA, and the Ghana Ports & Harbours Authority (GPHA).
The Ga Mantse and his entourage engaged and interacted with the Chinese contractors, who informed him that the work was 99% complete.
He assured the Ga Mantse that some of the issues raised by the delegation would be assessed and worked on.
Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II thanked the NPP government for putting up the much-needed fishing harbour for the benefit of the people of Ga Mashie and Ghana.

The Ga Mantse implored the contractors and the management of the facility to ensure that the suggestions made by the fisher folk are considered for the benefit of all stakeholders.
He used the occasion to reiterate his call for the regeneration of Accra, insisting that he will make sure Accra works again.

The Greater Accra Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover for his part also commended the contractors for the good job executed.
He said without a doubt that the harbour’s modern facilities will transform fishing practices among the fisherfolk for the better and lambasted those who engage in open defecation despite all efforts to stop the practice.
