Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has reaffirmed the commitment of the next NPP govt to continue impactful development programmes and policies that will benefit the people of Adaklu and beyond, pledging to deliver even more as President of Ghana when elected.
The NPP flagbearer made these commitments during a visit to the Adaklu Constituency on Tuesday, as part of his campaign tour of the Volta Region, where he highlighted the achievements of the NPP government in the area and outlined his plans for the community’s future progress.
Speaking to community leaders, including chiefs, imams, clergy, and residents, Dr Bawumia emphasised the significant strides the NPP has made in the past seven and a half years.
He contrasted this with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) 16 years in power during the Fourth Republic, asserting that the NPP had delivered more tangible development to Adaklu.
Touching on the Free SHS policy, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia said education is the quickest way to lift people from poverty, stating that developed countries take the education of their citizens seriously.
He said the NPP government therefore introduced the free Senior High School to help alleviate poverty in the country, and currently 5.7 million students had so far benefitted from the programme since its inception in 2017.
Dr Bawumia’s campaign caravan then made a stop at Ave Havi in the Akatsi North constituency, where the traditional rulers honoured the Vice President, for his significant contributions to Ghana’s development, particularly in revolutionising public services through digitalisation.
Torgbui Adogo Agbalekk, on behalf of the traditional rulers, praised Dr. Bawumia for his dedication to public service and for driving economic growth and improved governance.
The chiefs highlighted the transformative impact of Dr Bawumia’s leadership, particularly in digitalising public services.
In a symbolic gesture, the chiefs adorned Dr Bawumia with customary green leaves around his neck, a traditional mark of support and prayers for his success in his presidential bid.
In response, Dr Bawumia expressed heartfelt gratitude for the honour, support, and prayers from the traditional leaders, assuring them that he would never forget their kindness. He also laid bare his ‘Bold Solutions for Ghana’ proposals to the stakeholders and appealed to them to elect him as president as he has all the credentials to succeed.
The Vice President was also in the regional capital Ho, later in the day, where he commissioned the new offices of the Ho Municipal Assembly.
The NPP flagbearer later engaged chiefs, the clergy and clerics as well as opinion leaders on the need to give the NPP the nod.
Dr. Bawumia wrapped up his tour of Ho Central with a youth connect event, where he rallied the youth in the municipality to support and vote for the NPP since it had the best policies and programmes to move Ghana forward.
