SECURING PEACE AHEAD OF ELECTION 2024: WE’RE COMMITTED TO ENSURING PEACE BEFORE, DURING & AFTER ELECTIONS – NPP ASSURES PEACE COUNCIL

The Vice-Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has firmly assured that the NPP remains committed to ensuring peace before, during, and after the 2024 general elections.
Dr. Prempeh made this declaration on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, when a delegation from the Eminent Persons Group of the Christian Council of Ghana paid a courtesy call to the NPP at the Bawumia 2024 Campaign Office in Accra.
In his remarks, Dr. Prempeh emphasized the NPP’s strong track record of deepening democracy in Ghana, citing how the party has historically handled electoral processes.
Dr. Prempeh added that the NPP remains unwavering in its commitment to safeguarding Ghana’s unity and stability during the 2024 elections.
The NPP’s Head of Electoral Affairs, Mr. Peter Mac Manu, also condemned the baseless attacks by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) on the Electoral Commission. He noted that many of these allegations have proven to be frivolous and driven by political mischief.
Mac Manu urged the Eminent Persons Group to denounce all inflammatory rhetoric that could threaten the country’s peace in the lead-up to the elections.
NPP General Secretary Mr. Justin Kodua Frimpong reiterated the party’s unwavering commitment to a peaceful electoral process. He condemned the NDC’s aggressive stance on the elections and encouraged all stakeholders to prioritize the nation’s peace above political expediency.
Speaking with the media on the sidelines, a member of the Eminent Persons Group for the 2024 elections, Rev. Enoch Thompson, expressed satisfaction with the NPP’s assurance of peace and thanked the party for its willingness to engage in constructive dialogue.
Rev. Thompson Executive who is also the President, of Ghana Baptist Convention and Vice President of, the Christian Council reaffirmed the Christian Council’s commitment to holding all political parties accountable to a peace pact ahead of the 2024 elections, ensuring that the process is conducted in a spirit of unity and respect for democratic principles.

The Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Stephen Ayesu Ntim for his part also reiterated the party’s commitment to peace and appealed to other political stakeholders to embrace the peace council’s efforts.
