NDC’s Faustina Elikplim Akurugu Wins Dome Kwabenya Parliamentary Seat

Madam Faustina Elikplim Akurugu has secured a significant victory in the Dome Kwabenya parliamentary race, defeating the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Mike Oquaye Jnr. Akurugu, representing the National Democratic Congress (NDC), won with 51,634 votes, narrowly surpassing Oquaye Jnr, who received 50,477 votes.

The election process was characterized by tensions between supporters of both parties, with allegations of efforts to manipulate the outcome. Despite these challenges, the Electoral Commission conducted the vote collation and result announcement with close scrutiny.

Celebrations erupted at the collation centre as Akurugu’s supporters rejoiced, and jubilant crowds outside cheered and chanted in celebration of her victory. This win further strengthens the NDC’s position in Parliament, contributing to their momentum in the ongoing election.
