The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party in the just-ended presidential elections, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, reassured the rank and file of the NPP that the party would bounce back and be ready to win back power come 2028.
The vice president who lost last Saturday’s election to President-elect John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress said the NPP will rise from the self-inflicted electoral defeat and be well organised to face the next elections in 2028.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia gave these reassurances when he addressed the rank and file of the NPP from the Greater Accra region at his residence at Cantonments in Accra.
Dr. Bawumia urged the party faithful to look forward with optimism and hope, stressing his belief in unity to overcome the electoral defeat.
He said it was important for the party to forge ahead in unity and togetherness and eschew the blame game as the party reorganises itself.
The Weija-Gbawe Member of Parliament-elect, Jerry Ahmed Shuaib, for his part, hailed the unprecedented democratic credentials exhibited by Dr. Bawumia after the elections and appealed to the vice president to call on the security services to stop the unprovoked attacks, looting, and destruction of properties.
He said if the situation does not stop, they may be forced to defend themselves and appealed to Dr. Bawumia to take their appeal seriously.
