Tony Buzbee and Jaguar Wright are not working together on the lawsuit filed against Jay-Z, as she previously claimed.
Buzbee told TMZ that Wright reached out to his law firm, spoke with someone on the intake staff and recorded her phone conversation with the woman. The attorney shut down any association with Wright, who in recent years has become known for making a number of outlandish claims.
During their conversation, the woman speaking on the other end can be heard telling Wright that “we’re somewhat familiar with everything that you’ve said” and ultimately suggested the law firm would contact her at a later date.
Wright later released a video saying she has not had any interaction with Buzbee’s law firm “at all whatsoever.”
There is certainly a lot on Buzbee’s plate right now. He was reportedly sued by another former client who claims they were taken advantage of, according to a release from Law firms Berry & Munn PA and Porter & Malouf and Law.com.
On Friday, lawyers representing Buzbee’s former client, Adam Guidry, filed a lawsuit against the lawyer. Buzbee is said to have represented Guidry in a lawsuit against Callan Marine Ltd. in Texas after he was allegedly injured on a Callan-owned vessel. According to the press release, Guidry was never told what his options were, what the expenses would be, or the amount he would end up receiving, among other details. Guidry ended up getting $325,000, and when the settlement funds were released, he says received a check for $5,123.19, with the rest of the money allegedly going to Buzbee’s firm.
This is the second lawsuit that Buzbee and his firm have been hit with since filing the explosive lawsuit accusing Jay-Z and Diddy of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000 during an after-party. NBC News reported that the accuser had stepped forward and admitted that there were some inconsistencies in her story.
“I have made some mistakes,” the woman told NBC News. The woman told NBC News. The inconsistencies in her story include her father not recalling picking her up after the alleged incident, a celebrity she claimed to have spoken to at the party stating they weren’t in New York at the time, and photos surfacing online showing Jay-Z and Diddy at a completely different location than the one she described.
In a statement to NBC, Jay responded, “This incident didn’t happen and yet he filed it in court and doubled down in the press…True Justice is coming. We fight FROM victory, not FOR victory. This was over before it began. This 1-800 lawyer doesn’t realize it yet, but, soon.”
Earlier this week, Buzbee was sued by Matthew Ray Thompson Jr., who accused his former attorney of withholding settlement funds from him and charging a high interest rate for him to access the money, according to TMZ.
