The Chairman of the NPP UK branch, Kingsley Adumattah Agyapong, has strongly criticized vote-buying practices, calling them unethical and damaging to democracy. He made these remarks today during The Dialogue, a morning show on Net2TV hosted by Owoahene Antwi Boasiako.
Speaking passionately, Mr. Adumattah Agyapong denounced the act of distributing items like televisions and refrigerators to influence voters, labeling it “entirely unacceptable.” He questioned the fairness of such actions, asking, “What about those who receive nothing? How do you expect them to feel or act?”
He further cautioned that vote-buying creates unrealistic expectations among voters and undermines the integrity of general elections. “You cannot possibly cater to everyone, and this sets a dangerous precedent for democracy,” he added.
Mr. Adumattah Agyapong’s remarks on the show emphasized the importance of focusing on policies and leadership qualities rather than material inducements in political campaigns.
