The Chiefs and Queen mothers from the Kome and Shime Traditional area on Wednesday paid a courtesy call on the President of the Republic at the Jubilee House in Accra.
The Kome and Shime traditional area, is located in the newly created Anloga district in the Volta region.
According to Agbotadua Kumasah, who led the delegation, the social interventions of the Akufo-Addo led administration are impressive and “have bettered the lives of Ghanaians.”
He expressed the gratitude of the chiefs, queens, elders, and people of Kome/Shime to the Akufo-Addo government for its social interventions such as the One District One Factory, NABCO, Planting for Food and Jobs and the creation of new regions and districts including their own Anloga District, stressing that these acts of trust have increased their faith in his leadership.
They acknowledged the efforts of the president in the management of the coronavirus pandemic, describing him as a caring father.
The chiefs used the opportunity to lay bare some developmental challenges within their traditional area, while promoting the readiness of the community to receive investments in areas such as sugar processing.
President Akufo-Addo in his remarks to the delegation assured them that all the concerns brought to his attention directly will be given priority consideration.
He described the visit of the delegation as timely because it demonstrates that even though the country is in a critical fight to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus, the business of the country must continue.
“The virus is there but we have to find a way to live with it. Visits like yours here tell us that yes, Ghana’s business must continue,” President Akufo-Addo said.
President Akufo-Addo reminded the delegation that this year is an election year and he will be coming to them to renew his mandate and urged them to deal favorably with his request.
“You know this year is an important year for me. I am going to come back to you to mark my examination papers and I am hoping that you are going to give me a favorable remark at the end of the day so that we can continue the work that we are doing,” President Akufo-Addo said.
