The family of the late Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has announced a candlelight vigil and a series of commemorative events to celebrate the life and legacy of the iconic musician.
In an official statement released through their legal representatives, Baba Jamal & Associates, the family expressed profound gratitude to Ghanaians and fans around the world for the overwhelming love, prayers, and condolences following his passing after a brief illness.
As part of efforts to honour Daddy Lumba’s remarkable contributions to Ghanaian music, a candlelight vigil is scheduled to take place at Independence Square on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. The event, organised in collaboration with the Creative Arts Agency, is expected to attract thousands of fans who wish to pay tribute to one of the greatest highlife legends of all time.
The vigil is part of a global memorial taking place simultaneously in Ghana, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Netherlands.
While the family has asked the public to respect their privacy during this difficult time, they warmly welcome everyone to join in the public commemorations honouring Daddy Lumba’s enduring legacy.
Celebrated for timeless hits like Aben Wo Aha, Yentie Obiaa, and Theresa, Daddy Lumba’s influence has transcended generations and shaped the highlife genre for decades.
