Ablekuma West Municipal Constructs Classroom Blocks For St.Margaret Mary And Akweibu Basic School

The Ablekuma West Municipal Assembly has constructed and commissioned classroom facilities for two educational institutions in the Ablekuma West Constituency.

At the St. Magaret Mary Senior High School, the Municipal Chief Executive, George Cyril Bray and member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful unveiled a fully furnished 9-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities.

In her address at the brief ceremony held to unveil the facility, the Member of Parliament reiterated President Akufo-Addo’s commitment to ensuring that adequate infrastructure and logistics are provided for educational institutions in our Country. She charged the students to make the best out of the huge investments government was making in their education.

Ursula Owusu-Ekuful also stated that the government is in the process of providing some 334 senior High Schools with 40-seater ICT laboratories across the country.

Announcing this, the Minister for Communication, Ursula Owusu Ekuful stated that GIFEC is also constructing some community ICT centres in locations outside or on school compounds that can be of use to various communities.

Ursula Owusu further hinted that the government this year is training some 5,000 girls in ICT in 5 regions to help promote ICT amongst the youth.

She’s of the belief that educating the youth in ICT will go a long way to bring development to the nation and raise the next generation of a digitized world.

She further added that some 100 teachers are trained in each region in ICT to help impact students and help in the government’s vision to usher students into the digitized world.

On his part, the MCE for Ablekuma West Municipality, George Cyril Bray also stated that if not for the quick intervention of the Municipality, St Mary’s Senior High School wouldn’t have admitted freshers due to the lack of classrooms therefore commended the efforts of the Assembly and further listed some achievements chalked by the Assembly.

Later in the day, The Member of Parliament also commissioned a 6-unit Classroom block for the Akweibu Basic School.

Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful was accompanied by the Honorable Municipal Chief Executive for Ablekuma West, Mr. George Cyril and other officials from the Municipal Assembly.
