The Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly has presented assorted medical equipment and consumables to 12 healthcare facilities in the municipality to improve healthcare delivery in the area.
The items include delivery beds, toddler scales, drip stands, glucometers, delivery sets, ambulance bags, HB machines, screens, dressing trolleys, stethoscopes, adult weighing scales, and pulse oximeters, among others.
The beneficiaries include Anyinasin, Old Tafo, Nobi, Obodanse, Anweabeng, New Tafo Zongo, Tontro, Osiem, Ettukrom, Kukurantumi, Sokode, Juaso, and Ati.
At the brief presentation, the Municipal Chief Executive of the Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly, Dr. Umar Bodinga, emphasised that the donation was the Assembly’s commitment to provide solutions to challenges at the facilities in the municipality.
He emphasised the hospital’s dire need for specific equipment, which had significantly impaired the hospital’s ability to provide effective healthcare services.
Speaking to the media in an interview, the MCE expressed optimism that the donated equipment will alleviate the strain on the hospital’s resources and enhance the quality of care for patients.
He said the assembly plans in collaboration with the Health Ministry to build an ultra-modern hospital.
The Abuakwa North MCE said if elected, Dr. Bawumia will work tirelessly to prioritise the health needs of the people and ensure that quality medical care is available to all citizens.
He urged the management of the hospital to ensure the equipment was regularly maintained to serve its intended purposes.
On his part, the Municipal Director of Health in Abuakwa North, Abdul Aziz, who received the equipment on behalf of the hospital, expressed appreciation to the assembly for the gesture, which he said had come at the right time.
He said the provision of quality and affordable healthcare services is a shared responsibility of all stakeholders, hence the need for collective action on the part of all health professionals and service providers.
