Accra-Tema Motorway Fully Opened To Traffic

The Minister for Roads and Highways Hon Kwasi Amoako-Attah has officially re-opened to traffic part of the Accra Tema Motorway which was blocked to traffic for repairs work on the bridge over Lakplapka river.

One side of the bridge developed a defect which forced the ministry to as a matter of urgency block the road, divert traffic, and allow works to go on and replace the iron slabs with the concrete slabs.

The exercise which began on the 11th of June was expected to be completed between 2 to 3 weeks, but due to the urgency and importance of the motorway to the development of the country’s economy, some modern technology in road construction was applied which took contractors and engineers less than a week to complete the project.

Speaking in an interview with the media, Hon Kwasi Amoako-Attah expressed satisfaction at the rate of work done and how swift govt intervened to avert a possible collapse of the bridge.

He urged Ghanaians to exercise patience for this govt because it has a lot of good intentions that will move the country forward.

He said the govt promised to complete the project as quickly as possible and it has fulfilled it.

He appreciated efforts made by engineers to fix the bridge as quickly as possible, and also appreciated the MTTD department of the Ghana police service in managing traffic on the motorway, though motorists faced some challenges due to the diversion, it was worth it as the bridge could have caved in which might result to loss of lives and properties.
