President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed his belief that Africa is on the cusp of building a great new society in the not too distant future.
The President made this assertions when he presented his Keynote address at the 5th Annual St Andrews-Africa Summit held in the Scotland, in the United Kingdom.
The St Andrews Africa Summit (SAASUM) is a student led initiative that promotes a versatile discussion about Africa as a place, a people, and a catalyst towards a greater future.
The president who spoke to the theme; leadership, development, and entrepreneurship; used the occasion to enumerate Africa’s potential in contemporary times.
President Akufo-Addo said, the past decade has been significant for Africa, stressing that currently, Africa has seen a boost in confidence of its peoples.
President Akufo-Addo was quick to point out that, Africa is currently undergoing development in freedom, a phenomenon which others did not have.
President Akufo-Addo said the only way Africa can head forward is to diversify its economy, and stressed the need for an educated workforce to compliment its revolution.
He called for more trading within the continent and enhance the rapid exchange of innovation and technology.
President Akufo-Addo said even though silencing conflict is daunting, peace and stability is the ultimate goal which will release the entrepreneurial spirit and fruits the of the African private sector.
The Annual St Andrews Summit’s primary objective is to provide a platform that stimulates a critical dialogue about the common discourses concerning Africa by bringing together the professional, the academic and the student.
The President is currently on a four nation working visit to Europe and is scheduled to return on the 5th of March, 2020.
