Akufo Addo’s Government Has Made Much Progress In Renewable Energy Development- Majority Chief Whip

The Majority Chief Whip and MP for Nsawam / Adoagyiri Hon Frank Annoh- Dompreh has said the government of President Akufo Addo is determined to create and sustain environmentally innovative channels regarding renewable energy development in the country. Frank Annoh-Dompreh said this in a statement he made on ” Progress for the future of renewable energy in Ghana and the Africa region.

According to the Majority Chief Whip, the government amended the Bui Power Authority Act to enable it to perform some functions of the proposed Renewable Energy Authority.

He said the government has also put in place incentives and created enabling environment for local manufacturing and assembly of renewable energy technologies.

As a result of the government’s effort, Frank Annoh-Dompreh said the African Development Bank approved a US$ 27.39 million grant to Ghana for the development of renewable energy.

Contributing to the statement, the MP for Elembele Hon Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah said in order to promote the development of renewable energy in the country, more attention should be focused on promoting private sector investment in the area of renewable energy.
