BIG BOOST FOR CREATIVE ARTS SECTOR: GHANA TO LAUNCH AUDIO & VIDEO STREAMING PLATFORM IN NOVEMBER – DR. BAWUMIA ASSURES ARTISTES

All is set for the launch of an indigenous audio and video streaming platform in Ghana. This platform will significantly boost Ghana’s creative arts industry by increasing local content creators’ revenue streams and providing a ready market for local music and movies.
This new development was announced on Wednesday by the Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, during a stakeholders’ forum with musicians, producers, filmmakers, and other local content creators in Ghana.
The candid meeting afforded the Vice President of the republic the first-hand opportunity to hear the issues affecting the local creative sector, collate ideas, proposals and suggestions and lay down the NPP’s road map for the sector, when he becomes president.
According to the NPP flagbearer, all the requirements for the development of the local streaming platform, which will be private-sector-led, have been completed and disclosed that the service will be launched in November, this year.

For the tourism sector, Dr. Bawumia outlined some initiatives including the provision of conference facilities, formulating an e-visa policy, and establishing creative hubs and hospitality training centres among others, which will be rolled in the next NPP administration when he assumes the presidency.

The vice president said he was committed to increasing substantially the public investment in the creative arts industry, which according to him will yield more benefits for the country, including job creation.

Dr Bawumia also revealed that plans are far advanced to launch digital platforms for traditional transport services such as local taxis as well as the facilitation of digital payments locally.

In a question posed by one of Ghana’s foremost musicians, Shatta Wale, on what efforts will the NPP flag bearer put in place for the unemployed youth on the street, the Vice President said he has a fair knowledge of what it takes to be on the street, the reason he is spearheading the establishment of digital platforms.
