Ghanaian music sensation Black Sherif has revealed that he submitted his work for consideration at the 66th Grammy Awards but did not receive a nomination.
The artist filed in two categories: Best African Music Performance and Best Global Album. Speaking on Hitz FM, Black Sherif emphasized that the snub does not affect him, as his focus remains on creating music and connecting with his fans.
“I would be very happy if they nominated me, but it doesn’t even shift me that they didn’t. I am not shaken, I am not touched,” he said.
Despite the setback, Black Sherif remains optimistic about the growth of Ghana’s music industry and its potential to gain global recognition.
Black Sherif’s debut album Iron Boy, released on April 3, 2025, has rapidly become one of the most streamed Ghanaian projects of the year. Its success has positioned him as a strong contender for multiple awards at the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
When asked about his prospects at the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, Black Sherif expressed confidence in winning Artiste of the Year.
He emphasized that any recognition would be a tribute to his fans, who have supported him throughout his journey.
“My fans will be happy. And the award, if I want it, I want it for the fans. It is a validation for them. My own validation is in the music I compose,” he said.
In 2023, the Sacrifice crooner won the Best International Flow award at the BET Hip Hop Awards, becoming the second Ghanaian artiste to clinch the title after Sarkodie’s win in 2019.
Known for his emotionally resonant lyrics, viral anthems, and deep connection with fans, Black Sherif’s rise in the music industry has been meteoric.
His sound, which skillfully blends trap, highlife, and drill with raw storytelling, has resonated with a generation of listeners both in Ghana and across the globe.
