Black Stars on redemption mission against Djurtus of Guinea Bissau

The Black Stars of Ghana will take on the Djurtus of Guinea Bissau in the final group F game of the preliminary stages at the ongoing 32nd African Cup of Nations tournament being held in the North African country of Egypt.

The embattled Black Stars who are 4 time champions of the tournament have come under pressure for failing to win any of their previous 2 group games played so far.

After a 2-2 draw with the Squirrels of Benin and goalless against Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions, the Black Stars will have their work cut out for them as anything short of a win, could spell doom for the team’s qualification to the round of 16 stage.

Goals seem to be a scarce commodity for the current squad of the Kwesi Appiah managed Black Stars, a team with the likes of Asamoah Gyan, Dede Ayew, Kwadwo Asamoah, Christian Atsu and Jordan Ayew who on a good day, can torment any defence in the world.

After 37 years of AFCON Cup drought, Ghanaians have been cautiously optimistic on the chances of the national team at the African football fiesta.
