Death toll jumps: A fire that raced through several high-rise buildings in a Hong Kong apartment complex has killed at least 55 people. CNN is at the scene and we’ll bring you the latest as we get it.
• Still burning: Rescuers searching for the many missing residents have pulled an elderly man alive from a smouldering building in recent hours. Some of the buildings in the complex, home to a large population of elderly residents, are still ablaze 24 hours after the city’s deadliest fire in decades broke out.
• Arrests made: The complex was under renovation and encased in bamboo scaffolding and safety netting. Three men who worked for a construction company have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter in relation to the fire. Police accused the three of “gross negligence.”
