C/R: Poultry farmers bemoan over High cost of poultry feeds

Operators of poultry farms across the country are unhappy about the current hike in poultry feeds which they said is gradually collapsing their businesses.

According to some operators, the sector is facing a serious crisis aggravated by the distress of maize farmers, who are producing enough for the industry.

Rev JoJo Blankson speaking with Dr. Samuel Essel who is the manager of Ohemaa poultry farm located at Gomoa Dabenyin in the Gomoa East District of the Central region, the poultry industry was in the grip of a severe crisis due to an unprecedented and unreasonable increase in the price of maize, which is the most crucial ingredient of poultry feed and accounts for more than 80 percent of the cost of production of eggs and broilers.
