In a powerful show of gratitude, unity, and party brotherhood, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako, affectionately known as Chairman Wontumi, on Thursday, 5th June 2025, paid a courtesy call on Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong at his private residence in Accra to personally thank him for the unwavering support shown during his recent encounter with the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO).

Chairman Wontumi, who was recently invited and briefly detained by EOCO over business-related issues, said Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong stood by him during the difficult moment—both publicly and privately—offering moral strength and boldly speaking against what many saw as political targeting.
“In difficult times, the real ones show up,” Chairman Wontumi said during the visit.
“Hon. Ken didn’t just speak for me—he stood with me. This visit is my humble way of saying thank you to a brother and a statesman.”
Hon. Agyapong, former Member of Parliament for Assin Central and a 2023 NPP presidential primaries contender who placed second, warmly received Chairman Wontumi and expressed appreciation for the kind gesture.
“Leadership is not about being liked—it’s about doing what’s right,” Hon. Agyapong stated.
“I admire Wontumi’s courage and determination. When a colleague is facing unfair treatment, silence is not an option.”

Chairman Wontumi was accompanied by a respected delegation that highlighted the significance of the visit. Among them were:
• Alhaji Osman Masawudu, affectionately called Chairman Buga Buga, the Third National Vice Chairman of the NPP
• Hon. George Boahen Oduro, former Member of Parliament for New Edubease Constituency
• Lawyer Adom Appiah, Ashanti Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party
Their presence symbolized strong party unity and collective respect for Hon. Ken Agyapong’s statesmanship.
As the New Patriotic Party begins preparations for the 2028 general elections, this act of appreciation and reconciliation sends a clear message: the future of the NPP depends on unity, mutual respect, and putting personal differences aside. Both Hon. Ken Agyapong and Chairman Wontumi remain towering figures whose commitment to the party’s growth and internal harmony cannot be overlooked.

This visit, which took place in an atmosphere of sincerity and warmth, is being widely lauded as a strong symbol of healing and forward-thinking leadership within the party.
As Personal Assistant to Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong, I had the privilege of witnessing the humility, gratitude, and genuine brotherhood that unfolded during this memorable encounter. In an era where politics is often transactional, this moment was a refreshing reminder of what loyalty, gratitude, and true leadership look like.
At a time when many choose silence, Hon. Ken Agyapong chose to speak. And at a time when others might have moved on, Chairman Wontumi chose to express heartfelt thanks.
“We rise by lifting each other.”
