The Chief Executive of Ghana Cocoa Board, Hon Joseph Boahen Aidoo has assured cocoa farmers to remain resolute and continue with their farming regardless of the major challenge posed to the industry by COVID-19.
Huge drop in the international price of cocoa and temporarily closure of major international banks delaying the process of Cocoa Board securing COCOBOD annual syndication has led to speculation that COCOBOD may not be able to finance the next yearβs crop but this will not be the case according to the COCOBOD boss.
Hon Aidoo explained to journalist that contrary to the speculation COCOBOD is very much aware of the extent of the challenge and are taking the necessary steps to ensure that funding will be made available before the next cocoa season begins.
Hon Aidoo also revealed that since the E1 65 granted exception to COCOBOD and its allied agencies, fertilizers and other inputs are currently been transported to the cocoa regions in order to ensure farmers are able to have them in time.
