The Assin Fosu Municipal Assembly (AFMA) has introduced a colour-coded shift system for traders at the various markets within its jurisdiction in a bid to prevent overcrowding, amid coronavirus pandemic.

The Municipal Environmental Health Officer, Mr Emmanuel Agyare, Speaking to Oman FM Reporter Isaac Donkoh, said this is to decongest the markets and ensure social distancing starting from Friday, which is a market day in Assin fosu.

According to him one major challenge for the Assembly has been market women and vendors failing to comply with social distancing directive.

Therefore, “A committee was formed to bring up a strategy to curb the problem of which they came out with a suggestion of alternate day for alternative product with colour code for the marketers”.

They now have four groups, with each of the four shifts will be identified by a uniquely designed card in red, blue, gold and green colours.

He ended by warning that whoever fails to comply with the directive will face the law accordingly.

The market queens told Oscar Adawu Dadzie that, they have taken every decision by the Assembly, in good faith and will make sure all are abiding.
