The Vice President and Flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called out former President John Mahama over what Dr. Bawumia describes as indecent utterances by the former President.
A viral video of Mahama at a campaign event captured him launching stinging attacks on Chiefs, Imams, Pastors and CSOs, describing them as “hypocrites” for supporting the NPP and Dr. Bawumia instead of joining forces with him and the NDC to push out the NPP.
Addressing thousands of supporters at a Community Connect campaign event on Monday at Nsakina in Amasaman, in the Greater Accra Region, Dr. Bawumia expressed shock at the unpresidential utterances of former President Mahama, adding that the former President is frustrated because he has realised he will lose the election massively.
Dr. Bawumia admonished that politicians are responsible for being decent in their utterances, stressing that the election is about issues and ideas, and only those without ideas insult.
Dr. Bawumia challenged the former president to a debate, pointing out that his team had crafted policies to bring bold solutions to the country’s challenges and urging the electorate to give him the nod as the president in the December 7 election.
He said the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia-led government had outperformed the Mahama-led NDC government in every sector of the economy and mentioned areas the ruling government had done better than the NDC government, such as road and railway infrastructure development, health facilities, education, and many more sectors.
Adjen Kotoku was the next stop for the NPP presidential candidate, who was hailed by scores of market women, street artisans, hawkers and vendors as they excitedly greeted him.
Dr. Bawumia’s tour also took him to the Ayawaso East constituency, where he engaged opinion leaders, chiefs, and other stakeholders to explain his bold solutions and mission for Ghana.
The NPP flagbearer was giving a rousing welcome at Nima and Maamobi, where he interacted with the electorate.
The Vice President then stopped in the Ayawaso North Constituency and engaged various opinion leaders on his ‘Bold Solutions’ mission for the country.
