DSTV Ghana Subscribers to Receive Enhanced Value from October 1

Ghanaian DSTV customers are set to benefit from a significant upgrade in their television packages. Starting October 1, 2025, MultiChoice Africa will roll out a new value-driven offering that delivers more channels at no additional cost.

The announcement was made by the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Sam George, on Monday, September 29, outlining that subscribers will enjoy 33% to 50% more value, depending on their current package.

“For example, subscribers on the Padi package, who currently pay GHS 59, will be automatically upgraded to the Access bouquet valued at GHS 99,” the Minister explained. “This means an additional 35 channels and savings of up to 40%.”

Protecting Local Jobs and Content Creation

As part of broader efforts to support Ghana’s media landscape, the Minister also announced a clampdown on illegal decoder imports, particularly from Nigeria. He highlighted that decoder piracy has had a damaging impact, including:

  • The transfer of media-related jobs from Ghana to Nigeria
  • Inadequate service delivery to customers
  • Erosion of Ghana’s creative industry
  • Loss of vital tax revenue

To combat these issues, a multi-agency task force will be established. The team will include representatives from:

  • Ministry of Communication
  • National Communications Authority
  • Cyber Security Authority
  • Ghana Revenue Authority
  • Ghana Police Service
  • MultiChoice Africa
  • MultiChoice Ghana

This coordinated initiative aims to restore fairness in the pay-TV market, protect local content creators, and strengthen Ghana’s digital ecosystem.
