ECOWAS Holds An Extraordinary Summit In Accra

ECOWAS Heads of State holds an extraordinary summit in Accra in response to the recent spate of coups in the West Africa region.

The talks on Thursday were initiated after Burkina Faso on January 24 became the third member of the 15-nation Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to be overtaken by the military.

The Ghana Police Service in a statement issued on Wednesday  2nd February 2022  announced the temporary closure of some principal roads in Accra ahead of the summit.

The affected roads include the Jubilee Lounge (KIA) to Liberation Road at Opeibea and Liberation Road from the Airport traffic light through the Independence Avenue at the National Theatre traffic light.

Other roads to be affected include Kempinski Hotel to National Theatre road on Independence Avenue through Ako Adjei.

The Police urged the general public to adhere to the changes as they will ensure effective traffic management during and after the summit.
