Emergency National Disinfection Exercise Continues In Ashanti Region

The Emergency National Disinfection Exercise of markets and commercial centres within the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly in the Ashanti region has commenced.

The disinfection service which forms part of measures to disinfect local markets in the country to prevent the spread of covid 19, which has seen 132 persons infected, 3 deaths and 1 recovery in Ghana.

Markets being disinfected are the Kumasi Kejetia, the Kumasi Central Market, Asafo Market, Sokoban Wood Village, Atonso Market and Bantama Market. The team was led by the Ashanti regional Minister Hon Simon Osei Mensah and the KMA chief executive Hon Osei Assibey Antwi and the Dept. local government minister, Hon Collins Ntim.

The Kumasi mayor, Osei Assibey Antwi stated that all was set for the assemblies and the regional coordinating council to disinfect the selected markets in the region and called on the general public to assist the authorities to make this exercise successful.

Hon Osei Assibey Antwi also, served notice that security personnel are in place to protect lives and properties.

The Ashanti Regional minister, Simon Osei Mensah during the exercise at Kejetia addressed the media on the ongoing exercise.

Dept. local government minister Hon Collins Ntim for his part expressed his satisfaction at the ongoing exercise so far.
