The perennial water shortage problem for the Senya Senior High School in the Awutu Senya District of the Central is now a thing of the past with the provision of a mechanized borehole and poly tank for the school’s use.
This was made possible by the timely intervention of Mr. Eugene Arhin, the Director of Communications at the Office of the President, over the weekend, when he commissioned the water facility at the premises of the school.
Prior to the borehole and poly tank, students, teaching and non-teaching staff had to go outside the school’s premises to look for water.
Established in 1991, the 30-year secondary school is one of the premier schools in the Awutu Senya district, which has served the district and its adjoining communities.
In an interview after the commissioning ceremony, Mr. Eugene Arhin, who is an indigene of the area, explained the rationale behind the philanthropic gesture, recalling how on some occasions, he had observed the students trekking to get water supplies from outside the school’s premises, which moved him to intervene to mitigate their plight.
The Director of Communications at the Presidency assured the school and students that this gesture is not a nine-day wonder and promised to do more for the school.
The headmistress of the school, Madam Hilda Justina Dennis, on behalf of the school expressed their gratitude to Mr Eugene Arhin for the water facility.
Madam Grace Abena Hagan, a housemistress at the school who was ecstatic at the development also share her thoughts.
