Hon Kennedy Agyapong the incumbent member of parliament for Assin Central has justified the imminent trial of persons who are alleged to have facilitated the financial sector crisis and clean up, which brought about the collapse of some banks, savings and loans companies and investment companies in the country in the recent past.
The accused persons are former directors and staff of the defunct Capital Bank, UT bank, Unibank, Beige Bank among others whose actions allegedly caused the government over 14 billion cedis to reset the financial sector. Speaking to net2 news on the possible trial of the accused persons, Hon Kennedy Agyapong explained that the steps taken by the government is the responsible course of action.
The Assin Central MP further hailed the financial sector clean up which saved some 1.2 million depositors savings, as one of the most significant achievements of the Akufo-Addo led administration.
On calls of witch hunting, the straight talking lawmaker, wondered why the criminals are hailed as heroes and blamed the woes of the collapsed financial institutions on greed and ignorance.
Hon Kennedy Agyapong hailed the action of government in arraigning the alleged persons to court to set the records straight.
