FORMER BANTAMA MP PASSES ON: LATE OKYEM ABOAGYE WAS AN UNBLEMISHED PATRIOT – MAJORITY LEADER MOURNS

Mr. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Suame, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Majority Leader, and Leader of Government Business in Parliament, has expressed shock at the demise of Mr. Daniel Okyem Aboagye, the former Member of Parliament(MP), for Bantama.
In a statement released to the media, Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu said: He received with utter shock the unheralded transition of a brother, a former colleague Parliamentarian, and an unblemished patriot in the Elephant family, Mr. Daniel Okyem Aboagye.”
The late Daniel Okyem Aboagye was reported dead on Saturday, which caused shock and sadness among the political class, especially within the New Patriotic Party and in the Ashanti Region.
Mr. Osei Mensah Kyei Bonsu noted that humans recognize death as a sacred invitation to eternity by their Creator and added that notwithstanding its inevitability, the call often leaves a trail of anguish and teeth gnashing, especially in instances of recognizable truncation of a flourishing mission, as the case of Mr. Okyem Aboagye was.
He praised the qualities of the former MP, stressing that “Okyem was a man of many parts, a joy to know and work with, especially in matters of finance and economics.
The Majority Leader stated, “An astute debater in Parliament. The New Patriotic Party and the nation have lost precious personalities.
He prayed to the almighty to provide comfort in this inauspicious moment, as the loss is “painful, devastating, shattering, and unbearable to the family, both nuclear and extended.
Okyem Aboagye was MP for Bantama, one of the biggest constituencies in Kumasi, from January 7, 2017, to January 6, 2021.
His attempt at a second term in office was not successful, as Asenso Boakye beat him in the NPP primary ahead of the 2020 election.
The former MP who secured a landslide victory against the incumbent MP, Henry Kwabena Kokofu, in the NPP parliamentary primaries in 2015 was the owner and founder of 2M Express Logistics and Transport.
According to reports, he suffered a short illness before being pronounced dead by the authorities of KATH, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital upon arrival.
