GA MANTSE PALACE: GA MANTSE REITERATES APPEAL TO PRESIDENT MAHAMA & GES TO REVIVE GA-DANGBE TUITION

The Ga Mantse Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II has reiterated his appeal to the President, John Dramani Mahama, and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to facilitate the revival of the teaching and learning of the Ga and Dangme languages in the Greater Accra Region.
The King of Accra bemoaned the dwindling interest by the authorities to reverse the long-standing problem of the lack of Ga tuition in the Greater Accra region, which, according to many, is an existential threat to the Ga community in their home region.
King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II made this appeal when a delegation from the College of Languages of the University of Education, Winneba, at Ajumako, paid a visit to the Ga Traditional Council to express their appreciation to the Ga Mantse and the GTC for their unwavering support and contributions to the department’s growth.
Prof. (Mrs.) Rebecca Atchoi Akpanglo-Nartey, the principal at the College of Languages, University of Education, Winneba, who led the management delegation, was full of gratitude to the Ga Mantse for the numerous support and interventions for the college, including the promise to facilitate the construction of a hostel for teachers and learners of the Ga and Dangbe curriculum.

King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II said the gravity of the problem made him put the matter before the president during the political campaign season and hoped that together with the Ghana Education Service, the revival of the teaching and learning of Ga and Dangme languages would take off in earnest.

The Ga Mantse reiterated his pledge to facilitate the construction of a hostel facility at the university’s Ajumako campus and said a team from the Ga Traditional Council will coordinate the planning and construction of the hostel.

King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II said the Ga Traditional Council would do all within its power to ensure the revival of the Ga and Dangbe languages for the benefit of the Ga community and the nation.
