GA MANTSE URGES PRAYERS FOR POST-ELECTION GHANA AS MUSLIMS ANNOUNCE 2025 RAMADAN DATES: NEW PRESIDENT OF MORMONS IN WEST AFRICA PAYS COURTESY CALL ON GA MANTSE

King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Ga Mantse, has called on all Muslims in Ghana to pray for a better Ghana to satisfy the expectations of millions of Ghanaians this year and beyond.
He said in the aftermath of the just-ended elections, the nation needs prayers and the goodwill of the people for the new government to steer the affairs of the country.
The Ga Mantse gave these remarks when he graced the 31st Annual National Ramadan Conference held in the Greater Accra Region under the auspices of the National Chief Imam of Ghana, Dr. Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu.
The conference, themed *‘Peace and Unity Are Essential for Ghana’s Progress’*, served as a vital platform for fostering harmony and national development.

The Chief Imam, speaking through a representative, reiterated his calls for peace and unity in diversity and continued coexistence in harmony and cordiality in various communities across the country.

Alhaji Baba Dawud, the Deputy National Secretary of the Hilal Committee, read out a communiqué outlining this year’s Ramadan fasting, which begins on March 1, with the first day for sighting the moon to start on Friday, February 28.

The conference called on the government to bring the Interstate succession law (PNDC Law 111) in line with Islamic tenets, saying the law in its current form is at variance with the Islamic requirement and therefore detrimental to the fundamental human rights of Muslims in Ghana.
The statement said the conference entreated the government to, as a matter of urgency, sign the anti-LGBTQI+ bill into law.

The Ga Mantse earlier in the week hosted the Africa West Area Team of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the Ga Mantse Palace when they paid a courtesy call on him. The visit was to formally introduce the newly appointed President of the Africa West Area Team, Elder Alfred Kyungu, to the Ga Mantse and strengthen ties between the church and the Ga State.
The Ga Traditional Council, under the leadership of King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has over the years developed and deepened relations with the church.
In 2023, the church assisted in the renovation of the Mantse Tackie Cluster of Schools at Adabraka, as well as courtesy calls on the king by the hierarchy of the church and a visit by the Ga Mantse to Utah to attend a conference.

In his response, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II congratulated the new West African President and called for support for him to succeed. He also called for growth in the partnership with the Ga people in other areas, including healthcare.
